Can I filter out my personal appointments from a shared calendar?
I've set up a share on my calendar so my supervisor can see my appointments
and changes to my normal work schedule, but I'd like to filter out my personal appointments so he can't see them. I'd rather just have anything marked "personal" not show up in the shared view, rather than having them locked as "private appointments."

That is the only method for filtering your shared calendar. You could also create another calendar and transfer all of your personal appointments there and remove them from the shared calendar.
