Default Accept / Decline button greyed out

We have a user on outlook 2k3 sp2 / exchange 2k3 and when he recieves meeting
request from an external user, on opening them the accept / decline /
tentavie all buttons are greyed out.

However, internal meeting requests work fine.

Please help
