Reminders in Calendar quit working

Reminders for scheduled events in the Calendar portion of Office 2000 have
stopped working. I must uninstall and reinstall the program to get them to
work again. Virus Scan reveals no virus; I use Ad-aware on a regular basis.
Any ideas??
