Thanks Frank. I thought it might be something like that. Perhaps by OE
10.0!! :-))

I'm set up in OE 6.0 to use plain text for mail and news. I have show
quoted text in reply checked.
Most of the time I get the marks when I bring up a reply to a message.
I've noticed that on some email I receive, when I hit reply, the text of
the message I'm answering is there but without the marks.
I vaguely recall something about some people using email programs that
won't show the marks in the reply as you bring it up to answer the
mail, but I can't remember what the answer was to solving it.
Naturally, when answering a long email with insertions, its an advantage
to have those marks showing.
Is there a way to handle these messages that don't show the marks that
will insert them or is this just something you learn to live with :-))
???
Many thanks
Dudley
If the message you are responding to used the MIME/Quoted Printable
encoding then OE will not place the quote mark in front of the quoted
material. Outlook Express has always been like this on purpose. We have
complained about this since OE4.
