Outlook express address book damaged please reinstall,

his XP search function has stopped working

Not related to the Address Book/OE problem.

already have tried to remove and reinstall IE6 and Outlook, Outlook
address book did come back after a repair install of XP but I killed it
by doing Microsoft updates (DOH)!!
(already edited the reg as per Microsoft)

But I at least expected that the file search would come back, It never
did. I'm starting to suspect Mcafee, as at one point I went to delete the
Outlook folder only to see it reappear a few seconds later, That is a new
one for me !
( I was able to delete it in safe mode )

as a temp fix I have installed Thunderbird for his E-mail and Agent
Ransack for his file search,
which for him, he is fine with , but I feel the need to fix it right..

any ideas ?
