Since you are using Plain Text for newsgroups, which is the generally
preferred format, ANY font that you use will only be seen by you while
composing. It will not be sent with the message and any viewers will
see whatever font their system is set to use.

Are you seeing the original message that you are replying to in Courier
New?

If not, make sure that you've set Tools, Options, Read, Read All Message
in plain text.

As for what you trying to do, the critical part is setting the
Proportional Font. The compose settings only apply to HTML format
message.

And what you are trying to do works in my Outlook Express.

3. Send Mail Sending Format
Send News Sendind Format:

Select Plain Text
Setting:
MIME with Encode: None
(Also tried Uuencode)

4. Compose:

Mail: 10pt Courier New
News: 10pt Courier New

I am using MS Win XP Pro 2002 SP3 with OE6 revision 6.00.2900.5512
(xpsp 080413-2105) with all patches through the end of March.
