Default SAVING A DISTRIBUTION LIST AS A TEXT FILE

Since DL's contain only names and email addresses, you could only use it for
a merge to email. There is no data in a DL that would permit you to create
envelopes. Why would you ever try to use a DL for envelopes? You would use
Contacts to create envelopes.
You can save any DL as a txt file using the Save As... dialog in the DL. It
should become a tab delimited file when it is saved. You'll need to tweak it
before Word can use it as a data source, however. Delete the name of the DL
from the top. Make sure you then create a first row that contains the name
of each field directly over the columns that contain the data. If you have
Excel, opening the txt file in Excel may be an easier way to do this.
Once your txt has thereby been converted to a tab or comma delimited file
with appropriate field names, you can then select it as a data source for an
email merge from Word.

Can someone please explain how to save a distribution list as a text file
and
then us that file in a envelope mailing as a data source?

Thanks
