Default Vista, Outlook Express 6 & 7 & Windows Live Mail

People talk about this .dbx problem all the time.

I've never experienced it and I've been using OE for many, many years.

I use Norton successfully, update AV daily, and compress OE many times
daily.

I also backup OE frequently with OE Quick Backup.

So, what's this continual whining about "The .DBX Problem"?

My take is that Windows Live Mail wasn't ready when Vista was close
to being ready. So Microsoft quickly tossed Windows Mail into the breech
so that they could ship Vista on time.

It looks almost the opposite to me. WM was first,
a port of OE functionality which would fix the .dbx problem,
perhaps using some Vista only services... w

But that would have been a Vista only solution to that problem.
How could the same enhancement be provided to XP users?
So then WLMD would have been an afterthought about how
to do that. Then, if the Vista only services that WM was designed
for weren't actually available in that OS W, WLMD would be
the better solution for Vista too...
