Default Distribution Lists Outlook 2003

DL's only survive if you transfer Outlook data correctly. Import and export
kills them.
You must copy the PST file and reuse it if you want DL's to survive.
What happens if you just open this DL from the Contacts Folder? Any
messages?

In Outlook mail - new - I am typing the DL name in the To line
It correctly identifies the DL and shows it with a + sign
When I click on the plus sign to expand the list the error message occurs
When I go into the Contacts section, I can find the DL but when I use it
to send a message it says no good

I have started copying my DLs and saving as DL namefollowed by 1 so if it
does not work, I can try the /1 version
Pretty pathetic
I do transfer from one pc to another using a save of the contacts as a pst
file, maybe thats the problem
It shouldnt be like that, surely

Do you mean you are trying to access the DL from the Outlook Address
Book?

DL's are not reliable. Many become corrupt after a while. Hardly any ever
survive a transfer of your Outlook data to another installation, for
example.

A distribution list shows when I go to it in contacts.
But when I try to access it in the "To" field of a message
"The name has been deleted and it is no longer a valid entry"

Its now happened to me several times
