I did that, when you do, you still get the address book when you click
"select memebers" no email address appear.

I usually use my contacts folder to view contacts. I recently wanted to
make a distribution list, so I
went to the address book

You don't make a D/L in the Addressbook - see above, You open Contacts and
do New-Distribution list.
