You're welcome. As for the rest, none applies. What makes NNTP (newsgroups)
special is that everyone who posts answers here is an uncompensated
volunteer. Most of what I know I learned for someone who answered my
question. I just pass information along. You can do the same.

The one we've posted here countless times: Open the file in Outlook, then
set it as your default. Restart Outlook and close the new, empty PST file
Outlook created with the new profile.

Hi Russ
What do you mean by "a supported method"?
dannyb
"Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote:
Indeed. You will find many posts here that tell you that Windows Easy
Transfer creates a corrupt Outlook profile to which you cannot add the
Outlook Address Book Service. You must create a new profile from
scratch,
then connect it to your Outlook Data file using a supported method.
Then
you
can configure the Outlook Address Book to display your Contacts
Folder.

Hi Russ,
I believe I had outlook 2003 on my XP machine and Office
Professional
with
Outlook 2007 on the new Vista machine. I migrated the data using a
BELKIN
Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista. I guess that I configured the
Outlook
Address Book Service in a way that does not work.

To what version of Outlook are you referring? How did you migrate
your
Outlook data to this installation? How did you configure the
Outlook
Address
Book Service?

I don't seem to have any address books that are connected with
anything
in
the new outlook program since upgrading to a new computer
running
VISTA.
They show up in contacts though. If I try to send an email by
clicking
New,
and then Mail Message, this opens the Untitled - Message (HTML)
window.
When
I click on "To" I get the Select Names window and there are no
Address
books
in the drop down list to choose from. None of them are currently
outlook
address books and the "show this as an outlook address books"
option
is
greyed out on all of them. I have gone through the step by steps
attempting
to add a new address book but it tells me that another cannot be
created,
and
when I attempt to remove it, it is greyed out? How can I make
this
work?
