Mapping did the trick. Thanks.

How did you map your fields?
Are the email addresses valid?

Russ, I'm almost there, but have one additional problem. I have created a
cleaned up csv file of the distribution list. There are two columns, the
headers of which are "Names" and "Email." But when I import this csv file
into the contacts folder, only the name shows up. The email address is
not
imported. I tried renaming the email address column "EmailDisplayName,"
but
that doesn't work either. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
Thanks. Happy New Year!

No. Just save it as a text file, clean it up in Excel so that each column
has a header, save as CSV, then import the CSV file.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Would your tip mean saving as a
pst
file and then importing, or is there a superior approach?

It isn't. You can only save the DL in a format that you can then
import
into
Outlook.

When one creates a distribution list, a check box option is given to
also
add
the name and address to the Contacts folder. Once the distribution
list
is
created, however, is it possible to add those names and address to
the
contact folder? If so, how?
Thanks for any ideas.
