Default Outlook stopped working for no reason

As far as I know, all of my files are in their default locations, and were
not deleted. I did not install Office 2007 beforehand, although I did
recieve an update to Outlook Live, which was released after Office 2007 was
released, so I don't know if that caused any problems, although I don't see
Outlook Live listed in Add or Remove Programs.

Not only do I not want to use Outlook for my email, but I can't change
that
(or any other Outlook settings) because like I stated in my original
message, I see the error message (which is a modal dialog) before I even
try
to do anything. When I click the OK button in the dialog, Outlook closes,
so
I never really have a chance to do anything in Outlook. The only time the
Outlook window is visible is when the error message is being displayed,
and
because it is a modal dialog, I cannot use Outlook during that time.

After furious head scratching, Nathan Sokalski asked:

| I have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my computer, including
| Outlook. Outlook stopped working for some unknown reason one day.
| Whenever I try to open Outlook, I see an error that says:
|
| Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook
| window. The set of folders could not be opened.
|
|
|
| This message shows up before I even try to do anything, so I have no
| idea what set of folders it is referring to. I have tried
| uninstalling and reinstalling Office, but it did not make any
| difference. All the other Office 2003 components (Word, Excel,
| Powerpoint, etc.) work with no problem, so why isn't Outlook working
| correctly, and what can I do to fix it?
