The first fix didn't fix the problem. I use Outlook Express as my mail
client. I am able to email from other apps, so I'm not sure editing the
registry will fix my particular problem.

Idid find this at MS, which identifies the error prompt verbatim, but it
refers to Outlook, and not Outlook Express.

Would the fix be the same/similiar ?

I do have Outlook installed via Office 2000, but have never used it.

Thanks again,

Do you want to make Outlook Express the default e-mail client, or MS
Outlook?

Make OE the default e-mail client:
http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx

See this if it still does not set as default:

Make Outlook your default mail program:

Periodically I get the prompt "Either there is no default mail client
or the mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run
Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

In OE, under tools/options/general the make default application
buttons are greyed out.
