How can I create a fax coversheet from a contact in Outlook?
Answer a few thousand posts that do not contain sufficient information for
an accurate answer.
I'll be interested to see how critical of MVP's you are after you do.

Hello Erica,
I noticed that an MVP responded, but failed to give you any thoughts on
the problem you were having. Unfortunately, many are quick to reprimand a
novice poster for a meanial departure from protocol, but slow to give any
constructive help. Here are a few thoughts:
FIRST, regarding the reprimand from the MVP on multi-posting. They are
usually referring to individuals who separately post the same question in
multiple communities or forums. Another way to accomplish the same thing
is to place the separate addresses of multiple forums in the 'Newsgroup'
field for the message, much like placing multiple e-mail addresses in the
"To:" line of an email. This way the message thread will be visible in
multiple communities or forums, but requires only one posting.
SECOND, if you are using Windows Vista, you might be able to use 'Windows
Fax and Scan' as a work-around. Fax and Scan can be set to access Outlook
2007 contacts. This way you can create the fax and directly access your
Outlook contacts from the "To:" field of the fax. The fax can include a
cover page, scanned documents, scanned images, or documents and images
from other applications. I am not sure about the option you mentioned "to
create a new letter to contact," because I do not have that option.
However, in most cases, once you create any letter or document, you can
also print it to the Microsoft Vista "Fax" printer and that will create a
new fax. At that point you can add a recipient from within the fax 'Send'
dialog which displays your Outlook contacts.
THIRD, you might be able to create your own custom form to accomplish this
task. However, that is beyond my expertise. Nevertheless, there is a
community on designing Outlook forms that might be of assistance here.
Your question is a reasonable question. I hope the MVP's provided some
basic help on your other post, if not, then that represents a sorry
propensity to criticize versus help. Either way, this was a good request
and it would have been helpful had Microsoft included a form for directly
faxing out of Outlook. Many of us could have used such a feature.
Good Luck!

In Outlook contacts, the Tools menu gives you the option to create a new
letter to a contact.
Is there a way that I can add the option to create a new fax coversheet
to a
contact? Which of course would include the fax number (as well as the
name,
company, and phone number of the individual being faxed).
I would really like to be able to click a button and out comes a fax
coversheet ready to go.
