Default out of office assistant and external addresses

In addition to what Milly said there is another thing you might want to
reconsider; business processes. How do you continue your busines when
somebody suddenly gets ill? Have the customers wait an extra day? What if he
walks under a buss?

Instead of just personal addresses consider using a team/department or
whatever address as well. Use that address as the contact address and not
the private address. Private addresses go away when the employees leave; you
don't want your customers to leave because of that as well?

If you still want to use private addresses, instead of telling your
customers that you are away make sure that they still get their answers from
somebody else. Deletegate your email during your absense or forward it
internally instead.

That's cool. I'd love to get other exchange admin's views on the pros
and cons of leaving external OOO messages disabled. I know that there
are security issues with having vacation messages get sent to the
entire world, however there is also the risk of angry customers not
understanding why people are responding to their emails for weeks on
end.

Does anyone have a strong opinion either way?

That's an Exchange setting -- talk to your Exchange administrator.

Where is that setting found?- Hide quoted text -

See http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/automicreply.htm

I got a 404, but was able to figure out the URL:

Thanks

It's under "Global Settings", "Internet Message Format" default
settings. I had been looking under message delivery properties.- Hide
