Issue is not when one clicks the Address Book button in the toolbar,
but when one clicks either the TO: button on the new mail message or
the ADD OTHERS: button on a new meeting request, Outlook locks.
Usually the AB pops up and you select a address from the listings.

If this were happening to me, I'd remove the Outlook Address Book service
from the mail profile (ToolsE-mail AccountsView or display existing
directories or address booksNext, select Outlook Address Book, click
Remove), stop and restart Outlook, and add it back in again.
